Charlton Athletic Manager Alan Curbishley refused to be drawn on a controversial incident involving Italian Paolo Di Canio and England defender Danny Mills.
Di Canio and Mills clashed near a corner flag in the first half with the former West Ham player left on the ground with a facial injury.
Mills appeared to catch Di Canio with his right foot but the referee allowed play to continue.
Middlesbrough fans near the incident booed Di Canio, as though accusing him of cheating, but TV action replays showed there was blood on the Italian's face.
Curbishley said: "Other people may need to look at the incident rather than me. I cannot say whether Di Canio has received any stitches.
"I signed Danny Mills from Norwich City reserves many years ago and he has done tremendously well.
"If there is something to look at then I am sure that other people will do just that." Curbishley felt his injury hit side fully deserved some reward: "This is a tough place to visit and it would have been harsh if we had had no reward." Middlesbrough fans were not happy at the final whistle and booing broke out in sections of the ground.
Manager Steve McClaren has a desperate need for a striker.
This was the fifth successive game without a goal in open play. No Middlesbrough striker has scored in the Premier League for over 12 hours.
Italian Massimo Maccarone and former Bolton Wanderers striker Michael Ricketts are misfiring and Middlesbrough desperately need goal power to boost one of the best defences in the Premiership.
Both teams worked hard, but there was no inspiration near goal.
The best effort of the game came from Charlton's Graham Stuart, who unleashed a tremendous shot in the 67th minute.
Australian Mark Schwarzer produced a superb save when he tipped the ball over the bar.
