England were left without Sol Campbell today when he was ruled out after a bout of gastroenteritis. He will not travel to Bratislava with the England squad tomorrow but hopes to join up before England's second game next Wednesday against Macedonia.
His absence opens the door for in-form Ehiogu who will be favourite to start alongside Southgate, ahead of Boro-born Jonathan Woodgate.
One of the Boro stars could be given the role of marking team mate Szilard Nemeth, who hopes to make the starting eleven for the Slovak's.
