The return of Christie and Davies from long term injuries was good news yesterday as Boro refused to make any movement on the transfer market. There was a sniff of a signing late in the afternoon when it was reported that were after taking Damian Duff on a season long loan from Chelsea.
Christie has been out for the best part of a year after breaking his leg in training last November, and followed that injury by having a hernia operation. He has been given the go-ahead to step up his training but will not be back in contention for a month or so.
The former England u-21 star may take part in tomorrows reserve game at the Riverside against Sunderland.
Similarly, Davies has been given the go-ahead to step up training, after his break during a reserve game, back in March. Last season's Young Player of the Year is some way behind Christie but has been in light training for a while and will soon be able to introduce physical contact.
Other injury news - Michael Reiziger underwent an operation on his shoulder at the weekend and is resting up for a couple of weeks. He returns to see the specialist, in Switzerland, in five weeks time, when it is hoped he will be given the all-clear to return to training.
