Middlesbrough midfielder Kevin Thomson has thrown his weight behind under-pressure manager Gordon Strachan. The Teessiders have slipped to 18th-place in the npower Championship table, way off the pace they were expected to set as pre-season favourites for the title. But Thomson told the Evening Gazette: "It's been a wee bit frustrating not to have got better results and it's inevitable the manager will come under pressure, but we have got a great manager here. "I have worked under a few managers now, two or three at Hibs and probably the best at Rangers, and we have the right man for the job here. "There are those who say Gordon Strachan is not the right manager, but they should take a look in the mirror. The players are all behind him. "We will keep working hard and we know that three or four wins will send us shooting up the league."
