England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson was delighted with his side's three-pronged attack against Wales on Saturday.
The England boss opted to play Michael Owen alongside Jermaine Defoe and Wayne Rooney in a 4-3-3 formation, with Rooney operating in a withdrawn role in front of the midfield.
The gamble paid off, as Rooney ran the Welsh ragged and Owen who has lacked match practice this season put in an assured performance.
Eriksson said: "The three strikers worked very well. They played well, there was a very good balance in the team and we were very professional."
"It was not easy. Wales defended very well, they did not let our full-backs play at all. They closed all the spaces for us."
But the Swede thought England deserved more than a 2-0 win, after England had created a hatful of chances against the lacklustre opposition.
He added: "We were professional and could have scored two or three more goals. Wales had one chance through Craig Bellamy."
"It was a special goal (from Beckham). To find that shot was extremely good. As long as it is 1-0 you never know but 2-0 killed the game."
