Middlesbrough boss Gordon Strachan has revealed that the signing of Kris Boyd brings to an end a seven-month pursuit of the striker. The 26-year-old, who is the record goalscorer in Scottish Premier League history with 164 goals, recently made the switch to the Riverside from Rangers penning a two-year deal. Strachan says he had been after Boyd since last winter's transfer window and is delighted to finally get his man. He told the club's official website: "I have wanted to sign Kris since last December so this is the culmination of seven months of hard work. I always had an inkling that we might get him. We spoke to Kris in January as well, having received permission from Rangers. "At that stage he decided to stay at Rangers, where he went on to help them to the championship, but it's great to see our patience has paid off."
