Gareth Southgate: "We knew that Didier would take time to settle in because he missed half of the previous season through injury and was not 100 per cent when he came here.
"He worked very hard on his match fitness and then he had to get used to the faster pace in the Premier League.
"Our coaches have also worked very closely with him to improve the positional and passing sides of his game and his response has been excellent.
"Didier has been outstanding for us in the last couple of games.
"He's such a good competitor. He was passing the ball well against Sunderland last week, and that's why it was a big blow when he had to come off because it caused us a lot of disruption."
