Not been drawn on the nature of the approach the Boro boss said "I can confirm we've made an approach to Derby County regarding Malcolm Christie and Chris Riggott. Any further detail is a private matter between the two clubs."
He added "It's always been my policy that if and when we sign a player, then I will be happy to tell all the supporters about it. In the meantime I'm sure the fans will understand that there's nothing further to say."
It has been reported that Boro will take the pair on loan until the end of the season with a view to a £3m permanent switch.
