Gordon Strachan: "You can see how important Adam is, when you see the results throughout the season.
"When we lost him that was a huge body blow, when Adam went off there was no threat from Man City at that point at all and I felt comfortable - they look good and are strong but I didn't think our goal was under threat.
"With Adam it is a recurrence of his hamstring, that was a pity as just before he went off he went past two players as if they weren't there."
Steve Bruce has already admitted he will table a bid for the Boro star this transfer window, and some tip him to take up the offer.
But "London Is Calling" and Chelsea and Spurs have both had him watched in recent weeks.
Strachan has made it known he is desperate to keep his stars ... and add to them ... and losing a player of Johnson's calibre would be a massive blow.
