O'Neill Can Forget Home-Coming!

The Teesside club have already turned down huge offers of at least £11million from Tottenham for Stewart Downing and £4.5million from Portsmouth for O'Neil during the January transfer window.

Both players have been informed they will not be sold during the month under any circumstances, and Southgate has insisted nobody else will be leaving the Riverside this month either.

O'Neill put in a transfer request, hoping to return to the South coast, but Pompey have bolstered their squad with a double swoop for West Ham midfielder Hayden Mullins and Porto youngster Pele.

Mullins has joined on a three-and-half-year-deal for an undisclosed fee while 21-year-old attacking midfielder Pele has signed on loan until the end of the season, with a view to permanent move.
