Due to the 8 day strike by the firemen's union, which started this morning, there was some doubt as to whether football fixtures would go ahead.
Boro's Safety Advisory Group which is made up of members from the football club, Middlesbrough Council and the emergency services met to discuss the situation and recommended that the game should go ahaed, but a no smoking policy should be adopted throughout the stadium.
Boro Safety Officer Ron Turnbull said "They have carried out a risk assessment. It was their decision that football fixtures can be hosted at the stadium during a firemen's strike. However, every effort must be made to reduce the risk of fire, and as a result of that there will be no smoking throughout the whole of the stadium tomorrow. That includes the concourses and the hospitality areas as well as the seating areas."
So lets hope the only heat is on the pitch and City are on the end of a good hiding.
