Boro are still hoping that there will be new faces in the squad for next Tuesday's game with Aston Villa at the Riverside.
Talks with Seth Johnson have entered a fourth day and reports suggest that the deal is close to being completed. It is believed that the Leeds player has already undergone some medical tests at Northallerton's Friarage Hospital.
Sources in Derby suggest that the Rams have not received any other bids for Malcolm Christie and Chris Riggott, although they have had enquires from several quarters.
Derby are keen to raise funds from the sale of Christie and Riggott but will not be held to ransom by Boro or any other interested party. With the transfer window due to close in just a week time Boro's bargaining is strengthened as every day goes by.
Boro could have another two 'new' faces in the squad next week, John Eustace who signed on loan from Coventry last week could be in line for a place on the bench after impressing for the reserves during the week.
The other 'new' face could be the welcome return of George Boateng who has been out for several weeks following his ligament operation. He returned to training this week and could be in contention for the match against his former club.
