Bailey has played in all four Championship games for Boro after signing in the summer from League One side Charlton, but the 26-year-old has seen his new team struggle to find form in a season many expect Strachan's side to win promotion back to the Premier League.
Some of Boro's performances have been below par, notably the home games against Ipswich Town and Sheffield United. Despite winning the latter fixture 1-0, Bailey insists winning ugly is important, but admits the squad want to play good football for the fans.
We know we haven't played near as well as we know we can, said Bailey.
The performance against Sheffield United wasn't good but we went out there and won an ugly game, so if we can not play well and keep winning games, may that be the case.
Of course we want to play good football for the fans and we're definitely capable of that but the Championship is a tough league and teams often try to stop you from playing good football.
But all the lads are geared up to get this club back in the Premiership and we'll go out there and give our all every week.
The Hammersmith-born winger has been adjusting to life in the North-East after spending all of his career in and around London and despite his new, unfamiliar surroundings, Bailey is enjoying playing for Boro.
It's taken me a little bit of time to settle in but my family is up here now and we're all moved in,'' he said.
Obviously I'm a London boy and I'm in totally different surroundings up here. It's a lot quieter but I like that.
When you make these moves you've got to take it in your stride and hopefully that's what I'll do.
We've played a few times now but I'm just looking forward to playing as many games as I can and hopefully I can help get Middlesbrough promoted.
It is clear to see why Strachan paid £1.4m for Bailey, who boasts an impressive scoring record, including 12 goals last season for Charlton and the former Southend and Barnet man hopes he can continue his scoring form at Boro.
I've played four games now and haven't scored but hopefully if I keep getting in the box the chances will start coming and I'll start and put the ball in the back of the net,'' he said.
I've always scored goals wherever I've gone so hopefully I can continue here.
