The injury prone Croatian is now sighted less often than Lord Lucan. Our man Whelan is doing a great job but he is by no means the answer.
So what are McClaren’s immediate options as a partner for ‘Noel the Goal’ (if only!)
1. Play Andy ‘Plug’ Campbell
The jury is still out on the young striker who has all the pace but seems incapable of reading the game or taking the ball with him or staying on side or....
2. Persevere with Windass
Looks more and more like the hod carrier he once was. Get rid.
3. Bring back Ricard, Job, Nemeth, etc.
None of these are good enough and we all know it!!
4. Sign a striker.
Yorke & Forlan have gone, don’t look back. Zamora keeps banging them in but no-one seems willing to take a chance on him, surely a £4m bid would secure his services, the worst he can do is fail. Even is he does fail you would get the majority of the money back from a First Division Club in a year or so. Come on McClaren sign the lad.
One thing is for sure, action is needed now, we can’t 0-0 it all the way to the 44 points that McClaren reckons we need for safety.
For God’s sake somebody start some rumours off, sometimes they come true!
