No new worries for Boro

Middlesbrough head coach Aitor Karanka has no fresh injury problems for the Sky Bet Championship clash with Wigan at the Riverside Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Midfielder Albert Adomah overcame an ankle problem to play in Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Leicester, Boro's first in seven league outings.

Central defender Daniel Ayala played at the King Power Stadium having completed a permanent move to the Teesside club from Norwich less than 24 hours earlier.

Loan signing Nathaniel Chalobah was handed a debut as a late substitute, while fellow Chelsea youngster Kenneth Omeruo was also on the bench and will hope for a first chance to show what he can do.

Only goalkeeper Jason Steele remains on the injured list as he targets a return from ankle surgery next month.

Josh McEachran's Wigan debut will not come against his old club.

Boss Uwe Rosler says the on-loan Chelsea midfielder, who spent all of last season with Boro, is still a couple of weeks away from being ready to make his bow and McEachran has been assigned a training programme to help assist him.

Rosler will be able to call upon defenders Tyias Browning and Rob Kiernan for the Sky Bet Championship clash, though, after the pair missed the FA Cup win over Crystal Palace. Latics are still short of defensive numbers with captain Gary Caldwell (Achilles) among those out and Ivan Ramis in discussions over a move to Cardiff.

Top scorer Nick Powell could return to the fold having started on the bench at the weekend due to a knock but Scotland international Shaun Maloney (shoulder) remains absent.
