Ray Parlour is a definite non-starter, after picking up his fifth booking of the season last Saturday against Notts County, the former Arsenal man will serve his one match suspension against the Toffees.
Doriva will continue in the middle, probably alongside Bolo Zenden, with Stewart Downing and Szilard Nemeth making up a four-man midfield.
Also doubtful is Chris Riggott who picked up a knee injury in training on Monday, so Ugo Ehiogu could be in-line for a recall, having made just two starts this season.
Mark Viduka is still sidelined so Joseph Job will partner Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink up front.
Stuart Parnaby and Malcolm Christie will also be missing from the squad after picking up injuries in the Reserves defeat against Everton this week. Both players should be back in full training next week.
Boro squad:
Schwarzer, nash, Reiziger, McMahon, Queudrue, Southgate, Ehiogu, Cooper, Zenden, Doriva, Downing, Nemeth, Morrison, Wilson, Hasselbaink, Job, Graham
Everton will be without Nigel Martyn and Steve Watson who are both injured, while they will also miss Thomas Gravesen who is poised to sign for Real Madrid. They do welcome back Duncan Ferguson into the squad following a three match suspension.
