Kink has been given permission to speak to Boro officials, even though his Hungarian employers Gyori ETO are yet to agree a deal that would enable the 24-year-old to move to Teesside.
Kink, who has made 42 appearances as a left-winger for the Estonian national side, is keen to join Boro permanently, but his future could be determined by the outcome of the club's ongoing discussions with Dundee United over Conway.
Those talks have stalled over a failure to agree a fee for the 25-year-old, who has made more than 120 appearances since joining the Tangerines from Ayr United in 2006.
Dundee United officials are refusing to lower their £1.2m valuation of Conway, even though Boro have steadfastly refused to raise their original bid of around £750,000.
Further talks are planned for this week, and Strachan remains hopeful of reaching a compromise agreement that will enable Conway to join his squad ahead of the opening game of the Championship season on August 7.
However, if it looks as though an agreement will be impossible to strike, the Boro boss will instruct chief executive Keith Lamb to step up negotiations with Gyori regarding Kink.
One player who will not be joining Boro this summer is Gary Hooper, as the long-term target underwent a medical at Celtic yesterday after Scunthorpe agreed a fee in excess of £2m with the Glasgow club.
Boro made a number of inquiries about Hooper's possible availability at the start of the summer, but cooled their interest when Kris Boyd moved from Rangers.
Strachan had refused to rule out another approach later in the summer, but that will not happen if Hooper completes his anticipated move to Parkhead today.
Mido is another striker who could be on the move shortly, as he has opened negotiations with Dutch side Ajax.
The Egypt international is expected to travel to Holland this week for face-to-face talks, but will have to accept significantly reduced wages in order to return to one of his former clubs.
Meanwhile, former Boro loanee Chris Killen has signed a permanent deal with Chinese side Shenzhen Ruby.
The New Zealand international, who started all three of his side's games in this summer's World Cup, has signed a two-year deal with the Chinese top-flight outfit.
