The Boro forward has struggled to win a regular place at Parma, with an injury and a change of coach not helping his cause.
Maccarone has started just 8 games for relegation threatened Parma, netting 3 goals in the process. His move to Siena will keep him in the relegation dog-fight as Siena are just one place and one point above Parma in Serie A.
Siena will take Maccarone on loan until the end of the season completing his year long loan on the same terms as negotiated with Parma.
It is unlikely that that once promising Italian will return to Boro and he will endeavour to win a permanent contract back in his homeland next season.
