At the end of last week speculation surrounded a move for Wolves defender, Jolean Lescott, but over the weekend a new name has re-emerged.
Bobo Balde from Celtic is the latest player linked with Boro. Out of contract at the end of the season, the 29-year-old Guinean has not agreed a new deal with the Glasgow club.
Celtic would like to keep Balde but Steve McClaren is keen to tie up a deal this week. If he stays at Celtic until the end of the season he may sign a pre-contract agreement with Boro and move in the summer.
At 22 Lescott is one for the future, tipped as a future England centre-half, the Birmingham born defender would cost Boro around £2m.
News from Spain suggests that Albert Celades is keen on a move to the Premiership. The Real Madrid midfielder has had limited chances at the Bernabeu and spent much of last season on loan in France.
