Middlesbrough: Davies set to join QPR

Reports, particularly in the southern press, suggest that Boro have agreed a fee with the London club, believed to be somewhere between £0.5m and to £1M. There has been no confirmation of any offer from Boro.

Davies had been on loan to the Championship side but returned to Boro as cover during the worst part of our ongoing injury crisis.

QPR manager Ian Hollaway was highly delighted with the Boro youngster during his loan spell and made no secret of the fact he would love to sign him permanently.

It is a little surprising that Boro are letting a talented local youngster move on, particularly when you look at the age of our current centre-backs, Gareth Southgate is 34, Ugo Ehiogu is 32 (and injured) and Colin Cooper is 38.

We do have some good youngsters coming through, but other than the aforementioned trio, we only have Chris Riggott who is a recognised centre back.
