Alan Wiley (Staffordshire)

Mr. Wiley referees his third Boro game of the season, having been in charge twice at the Riverside. The first occasion was the memorable 4-1 victory over Manchester United, but the second was the 1-0 Carling Cup defeat against Blackburn.
Last season he was in charge of 32 games during which he flashed the yellow card 78 times and the red card 5 times. So far this season he has shown the yellow card 90 times and the red card 5 times, in 29 games.
He has been refereeing in the Football League since 1995 and was promoted to the Premier League list in 1999. To date he has officiated in over 130 Premier League games and was the referee in charge of the 2002 Community Shield between Arsenal and Liverpool.
