At 32 he is one of the youngest referees around at the moment and has been officiating in Europe for two seasons.
He refereed Newcastle's Intertoto Cup against Deportivo this year and following the game was quoted on a NUFC website as being "fussy and seemingly easily fooled by the antics of the home side". But Newcastle did lose the game!
The assisstant referees and the fourth officials are also from Belgium.
