McClaren: Elland Road twist

The Sunday Express, The Observer and the News of the World led with stories suggesting that Leeds would now be appointing Steve McClaren after Martin O'Neill was ruled out.

The later even suugested that he would be taking his entire backroom staff to Elland Road, leaving Boro just over a month to find a successor, before the new season starts.

Leeds chairman Peter Ridsdale told Sky Sports that the reports were untrue when he said "I can say unequivocally that I have had no contact whatsoever with Steve McClaren. Reports that I have are unfair on Middlesbrough and Leeds United."

We all know that McClaren is one of the most sought after figures in the game today, but he is still new to management and in the process of building a potential top ten side at Boro.
