The postponment will be a bitter blow to many who have eagerly been waiting for our chance to beat the Geordies, although results in the past week would suggest that it would have been a tough game.

Annoyingly the Riverside pitch is in perfect playing condition due to it being covered for the past few days, but in the end it was spectator safety that was the key, with the roads and footpaths around the stadium in a dangerous condition there was little option to call the game off.

Injury wise, perhaps it's a blessing in disguise for Boro. We may now be able to play the re-arranged game with a full squad available, and you never know the 'Little Fella' could be back.
