Former Rangers striker John MacDonald believes Kris Boyd can be a big hit in the Championship if his proposed move to Middlesbrough goes through. Turkish side Kayserispor had offered the out-of-contract Rangers forward a £4million deal over two years, but the 26-year-old turned down the invitation to fly out to Turkey for discussions. Boyd, who has also been linked with a move to Blackburn, has reportedly agreed to the terms of a lucrative deal with Boro and is expected to travel to Teeside within the next 24 hours to complete the formalities of the move. MacDonald told the Daily Mail: "The Championship is not a step down in terms of the standard of defences. "Boyd is used to scoring for fun in the SPL. I wonder if that would probably be the kind of level to get him scoring and settled into the English game before moving on up."
