Leeds V Middlesbrough at Elland Road - Match Preview

Zaliukas in line for Leeds start

Leeds defender Marius Zaliukas is in line for his first start for the club against Middlesbrough.

The Lithuania international will replace Scott Wootton, who has been ruled out with an ankle injury sustained in the recent win at Charlton.

Leading goalscorer Ross McCormack is expected to start despite being withdrawn from the Scotland squad due to a hamstring injury earlier this week.

Right-back Sam Byram (thigh) and left-back Stephen Warnock (ankle) missed the game at Charlton and could return to contention, while midfielder Michael Brown and defender Danny Pugh will be hoping to retain their places.

Defender Jonathan Woodgate could return to action for new Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka's first game in charge.

Woodgate, who made his name at Elland Road, missed the 2-2 home draw against Watford last time out with a groin problem, but is winning his battle for fitness.

Fellow defender Seb Hines is being assessed ahead of the short trip to West Yorkshire. Hines damaged a hamstring in the Watford game and Karanka will make a late decision on him.

Boro currently lie in 16th place in the Sky Bet Championship table, eight points adrift of the play-off places having won just two of their last 13 league games, a record which ultimately cost Karanka's predecessor Tony Mowbray his job.
