With the first game of the new campaign on Saturday this week has seen a player leaving and a club being told that a Boro striker is not for sale.
On Wednesday, James Morrison passed a medical at West Brom and signed for the Midalands club for £1.25m, in a four year deal. Should The Baggies sell on the 21-year-old then Boro would receive 15% of the resale value.
There is also, potentially, another £750,000 for Midllesbrough based on the number of appearances he makes.
This unexpected sale of a promising youngster will come as a surprise to many on Teesside. He made 60 starts for Boro (in three seasons) and scored eight goals. He looked like he was heading for a long successful career with the Boro.
His departure along with the move to Birmingham by Stuart Parnaby has taken two young local lads away, who both seemed to offer something of value to Boro. How nice it would be to have Parnaby available this weekend to help cover for the five defenders ruled out of the visit of Blackburn.
