Northampton have signed defender John Johnson from Middlesbrough. The 21-year-old right-back, who enjoyed a successful loan spell at Sixfields last season, scoring five goals in 38 appearances, has agreed a two-year contract. "I am delighted we have been able to bring Jonno back to the club," said Cobblers boss Ian Sampson. "He was a big success here last season. He knows all about us, we know all about him and he fits the bill of the type of player we are looking to bring in. "He is young, hungry, determined and ambitious. We know there were a lot of clubs interested in him so as soon as we heard he could be available we moved quickly to bring him to the club. "I am sure the move here will prove good for him and we are pleased to have made another major signing."
