It was also reported that Celtic were interested in taking the midfielder north of the border.
Speaking to the official web site he said "I am happy here. I appreciate what the club has done for me,"
"Whether my name has been mentioned to other clubs, I am very loyal. Unless I am told different, I will be here as long as my contract is running."
He went on to say " . . . I am delighted to be the captain - it is a big honour - and if I am appreciated for what I do for the club, then there will be no changes."
