Originally Boro were due to play Greek side Olympiakos, but that game fell through, so Boro have quickly arranged a game against Alaves. It will kick-off at 7.45pm.
The game should be a stiff test for Steve McClaren's men, Alaves were seventh in the Spanish Primera Liga last season and were beaten by Liverpool in the UEFA Cup final a couple of seasons ago.
The game will be the first opportunity for Boro fans to see new signing Massimo Maccarone in action at the Riverside, and all being well, it could see the reurn on Juninho.
