Sacking Southgate would not bring us instant success, and Steve Gibson knows it.
The new boss would face the same problems; have to deal with want-away players; no money to re-build; and what would we gain?
Gareth Southgate: "I don't fear that (the sack), you just focus on getting results for the club and what will be will be.
"It is unique support, we have an excellent chairman.
"You have clubs with inexperienced chairmen, but he has seen what has worked over 15 years.
"He has seen the worst possible scenarios for the club when it went into administration.
"The long-term future of the club is paramount in his thoughts and planning.
"Fortunately, I am a manager who feels that way as well. I am not just here for my benefit.
"That might hinder our results short-term, but the long-term future of the club is everything."
