The Italian arrived at the Riverside this morning and trained with his new team mates shortly after signing.
Carbone sees this as an opportunity to resurect his Premiership career, he said "It's always important for me to play in the Premier League and now I've got another chance to play for a big team."
"This one I think is one of the best in the Premier League and now I've got a chance to show what I can do."
The signing gives Steve McClaren a selection headache up front where he must decide how to accomodate Carbone. With Alen Boksic looking for a recall McClaren could play Carbone just behind Boksic and Noel Whelan in an attacking 4-3-1-2 formation.
Dean Windass is the most likely casualty if Boksic plays, as well as Jason Gavin who will probably make way for Carbone as Boro revert to a standard 4-4-2 formation.
Ugo Ehiogu has trained well this week but it may just be a little early for the big man to return.
