New signing Kris Boyd is hoping to guide Middlesbrough back into the Premier League after joining on a two-year deal from Rangers. The 26-year-old, who is the record goalscorer in Scottish Premier League history with 164 goals, also revealed the chance to work with Boro boss Gordon Strachan played a big part in his decision. Boyd, who scored 101 goals in 118 league starts for Rangers, told Boro's official website: "Gordon Strachan has shown a lot of interest in signing me over a long period and that's a good feeling. I thought it was important that I was coming to a place where I felt welcome and a place where I wanted to play. "I made the decision to leave Rangers back in January but I wanted to help them win the title first. But I knew I needed a new challenge and joining Middlesbrough gives me just that challenge. I'm looking forward to it. "Now I'm just going to focus on scoring goals and helping get the team back in the Premier League. Middlesbrough is a Premier League club in terms of its set-up and that's where we all want to be."
