Middlesbrough striker Kris Boyd has been given the green light to join his new team-mates in Germany after scans revealed nothing more than severe bruising. The summer signing from Rangers, who scored against Athlone Town on his Boro debut on Monday night, was hurt by a mistimed tackle just 25 minutes into Wednesday's win over Bray. However, a club spokesman said: "The swelling on his left leg had reduced sufficiently to allow scans to be taken and they have shown severe bruising around his fibula. "But that will not prevent the former Rangers man from traveling to Germany on Tuesday with Boro playing Sachsen Leipzig on Wednesday and Union Berlin on Saturday."
