It was reported in the Sun today that Middlesbrough have agreed a £4m fee to sign the 29 year-old Nicky Butt from United.
Stories are also going around that a £4m deal is in place to bring Mark Viduka to the Riverside. Viduka is said to be getting £1m of this fee in return for reducing his wage to around £50,000 a week.
The club are still trying to keep Joseph Job who has still not agreed to the improved offer he was made a few weeks ago. Several French clubs are interested in the Cameroon international.
Boro may also have asked Chelsea if they can keep Zenden on loan for another season and there is speculation that they may be looking to also get Geremi back on loan.
With Danny Mills no longer likely to be signed the search is on for a right back. It is suggested that the recently released 31 year-old Barcelona defender Michael Reiziger could be a target.
Meanwhile Robbie Stockdale may be on his way to Rotherham. He had a successful loan period there last season.
