The 33 year old defender has been allowed to sign as he is currently a free agent. Vidmar left his previous club Rangers in July and has been in talks with Boro for the last few weeks. He would have signed last week, but with manager Steve McClaren with England the deal had been delayed until today.
MClaren is pleased to have finally got his man. "We are delighted to bring Tony on board because when Gianluca Festa left the club we were a bit short in cover at the back."
Vidmar will be in the squad for tomorrows Derby against Sunderland, if he recieves clearence from FIFA in time.
