A largely uneventful first half was a distant memory for Boro when after 53 minutes, Joe Bennett whipped a teasing ball into the box from the right-hand touchline, but the delivery eluded everyone and flew into the net with the goalkeeper helpless.

Bennett's night was turned on its head as the game entered stoppage time after the left-back handled in the area. Wanderers captain Sam Sheridan converted the resultant spot-kick to snatch a somewhat fortuitous point.
