Earlier today though Dave Allan confirmed that they had offered Juninho a better contract and were hopeful that this would be accepted.
"We can confirm that we have made a revised offer to Juninho and negotiations are ongoing. We are hopeful that both parties can eventually agree a deal to bring Juninho back to Middlesbrough."
After the original collapse of the deal, many fans thought the move to bring back Juninho was just a ploy to sell more season tickets, but this was also dismissed by Allan.
"Suggestions that our bid is anything but a real attempt to bring Juninho back to the club are well wide of the mark."
