Rhys Williams didn't train as he is still recovering from a pelvic problem, but long-term absentees Matthew Bates and Willo Flood came through unscathed. Summer signing Andy Halliday also trained after moving from Livingston.
Mido linked up with the squad for the first time since he went out on loans to both Zamalek in Egypt and West Ham last season.
The squad have spent the early past of the summer at a week-long training camp in La Manga, Spain and Strachan will hope that this will bond the team ahead of a long season in the Championship.
Midfielder Nicky Bailey is exapected to complete his £1.4m move from Charlton today.
