Peter Beagrie: I was at Middlesbrough on Tuesday night... and to be honest they were a bit embarrassing.
Blackpool produced a very good away performance and all credit should go to Ian Holloway and the outstanding Charlie Adam, but they were helped by a very abject Boro side.
I found Gordon Strachan's tactics a little bit strange because he left out Mark Yeates who'd made two and scored one in their previous match, a 5-1 win at QPR. I understand he wanted to bring Adam Johnson back into the side, but I didn't understand why he played Julio Arca out wide.
It was crying out for a 4-4-2 to for the jugular against a Blackpool that hadn't won in three games, but he played with three holding midfielders instead.
And the two centre-halves, David Wheater and Sean St Ledger played like total strangers. Individually they're two of the best defenders in the division, but they failed to deal with the solitary striker Gary Taylor-Fletcher. For one of his goals he was in the penalty area with nobody within 10 yard of him!
