The daylight theft in Yarm is the latest in a long line of burglaries targeting Premier League footballers.
The Daily Mail believes that the raiders could have left Alves' abode with expensive and invaluable items such as his passport, jewellery, iconic club and country football jerseys, important documents, and £200 in cash, while leaving the player to foot a £50,000 bill in damages.

Inspector Stuart Reed, from Cleveland Police, added, "We received a report of a break-in at a property in the Yarm area early on Saturday evening, which we are investigating."
