All quiet on the transfer front

The only activity from the Riverside was a loan deal involving Mark Summerbell who has moved to Portsmouth until the end of the season. The 25-year-old midfielder has not figured in Steve McClarens plans this season.

Marlon Berseford has extended his loan period at Burnley until the end of the season, while Dean Windas may join Grimsby on loan after being told his future does not lie at the Riverside.

Other than that, it all seems very quiet, with no last minute rumours flying about, so Boro will finish the season with their current squad and make plans for some big money buys in the summer.

McClaren has reduced the wage bill this year by something like £5m and hopefully he will be able to invest some of the savings in new blood. Boro have also made in excess of £1m from this seasons FA Cup run, long may it continue.
